Privacy Policy
Effective 24 September 2026
Flipworthy is built to keep your data on your phone. This page explains exactly what leaves it, and why.
Photos you scan
Before your first analysis, Flipworthy asks permission to send the photos you choose and any item text or codes through our server to Google's Gemini API. These services identify items, estimate resale prices and draft listings. You can decline or turn this permission off in Settings and continue to view saved inventory.
Requests use encrypted connections. Our application server does not store your photos. Photos and item text are processed for the request; Google's API terms govern its processing and retention. Saved copies of photos in Flipworthy remain on your device.
Your inventory
Scan history, listings, prices, costs and profit figures, sourcing trips and any mileage you log are stored only on your device. We cannot see them. Deleting the app deletes them. Exports you create (for example a tax-year spreadsheet) are shared only where you choose to send them.
Reminders
If you turn reminders on, Flipworthy schedules notifications on your device, for example when drafts have sat unlisted for a while. They are worked out on your phone from your inventory; nothing about them is sent to us.
A device identifier
Flipworthy generates a random identifier and keeps it in your device's secure Keychain. It is sent with each scan so we can enforce the free-scan limit and protect the service from abuse. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID, and it is not used for advertising or tracking.
Services that identify and price an item
To recognise an item and find comparable listings, our server sends a short text description of it (brand, model, title, a barcode you scanned, or a name you corrected) to these services. None of them receive your photos, your device identifier, or anything about you.
- eBay (Browse API) for current asking prices on live listings. These are shown as evidence beside the AI estimate; the "sold" button opens eBay's own site.
- Discogs for pressing details on records (identification only; we do not show Discogs marketplace prices).
- Open Library for book details from an ISBN.
- Frankfurter (European Central Bank rates) for currency conversion. It receives only currency codes.
Our server runs on Supabase, which keeps operational request logs needed to operate and secure the service. These include IP address, approximate location derived from that address (such as city or region), request time, network and device/client information, and response status and timing. Flipworthy does not request GPS or precise location access. Our application logs record failure stages and status codes rather than photos, item text, transaction tokens or raw provider error responses. We retain scan counts and free-scan reservations against the random device identifier to enforce allowances and refund failed free analyses. These usage records do not contain your photos or inventory.
Subscriptions
Apple handles payment. To check Pro access, the app sends an Apple-signed transaction to our server. This includes transaction identifiers, the subscription product and expiry information. We verify Apple's signature and subscription details; we do not keep a customer purchase ledger or receive your card or bank details. Manage or cancel your subscription in Apple Account settings.
What we don't do
- No account or sign-in is required.
- No analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no tracking across apps or websites.
- We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising. The service providers described above process the information needed to operate the app.
Accuracy
Identifications and price estimates are generated by an AI model and may be wrong. They are estimates to help you research, not guarantees of value or authenticity. Always verify against real sold listings before pricing a high-value item.
Who Flipworthy is for
Flipworthy is intended for adult resellers aged 18 and over. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
